About ECRs@MQ

The newly established ECRs@MQ is a grass-roots support network for academics in the early stages of their research careers. ECRs@MQ is an initiative of three cross-faculty Early Career Researchers (Dr Linda Graham, CRSI/Education; Dr Marianne Fenech, IEC; Dr Rochelle Spencer, CRSI/Anthropology) who are keen to begin a supportive and strategic dialogue with others who would like to further develop their research capacity.

Specifically, the ECRs@MQ support network comprises a 12 month program (see attached) that is designed to provide collaborative, practical and strategic support that will assist you to:

  • Clarify, develop and be energised by your career plan, and, if appropriate,
  • Develop a research project and apply for funding

Although this initiative has been independently developed by Linda, Marianne & Rochelle, ECRs@MQ 2010 will be co-sponsored by the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Human Sciences, with additional support from our respective departments (Centre for Research on Social Inclusion, School of Education, and the Institute of Early Childhood).

This will enable the much appreciated provision of refreshments, as well as the development and maintenance of an online resource or "one-stop-ECR-shop" based on the topics covered over the next 12 months.

Please note that we use the term "ECR" loosely. Although our intake for 2010 is restricted to the first 20 respondents, the program is open to all academics who feel they are "early" in their research career.
